No it's been plugged into the headunit, I took a spare RCA cable and plugged it in.. nothing happened.

I came back here and I tried it again, and it was very very quiet. Then I plugged the other RCA back in..

Does it maybe have something to do with the remote turn on?

Keep playing with it until it works :D Or maybe read a manual...

what gauge wire are you running for the remote wire? personally i run 10ga, but ive experienced the same problems from running those tiny *** wires that come with an amp install kit.

somethings not wired right. go through your connections and check your grounds. even if its wired 4ohm instead of the desired 2ohm it will still make sound.

It is one of those tiny *** wires. I gave up for tonight though.. not enough light, and the flashlight died.

Those tiny f* wires are fine because it doesn't supply more than the tiniest amount of electricity, and in any case to test it out he shorted the remote and +12 terminals (I think.)

The remote turn-on lead for every aftermarket headunit is blue with a white stripe. If you're headunit does not have this (and yes I've saw some that don't), you can tap into the red wire. This is the accessory wire and will cause your amp to be on anytime the key is in the ignition position.

Positives together on the sub and then to the positive output on the amp. Same for the negatives. This will give you a final load of 2 ohms nominal.

Make sure your RCAs are connected into the correct pre-out on the headunit. Ensure that the pre-out is turned on through your headunit's settings. (if it has this.... what's the model number on it anyway?)

Make sure that your crossovers are set correctly. You could have a high-pass filter set on your headunit and an overlapping low-pass set on the amp. Giving you the end result of nothing left.

The amp is powering up correctly? It's not, by chance, powering up directly into a protection mode is it? Try disconnecting the subs from the amp. Turn it on. The amp turns on correctly? Now shut er' down and connect the sub again. Amp powers up exactly the same? Keep the gain low during your troubleshooting. We want to ensure the amp is not kicking right into protection upon power up.

If the amp is indeed powering up correctly and the subwoofer is connected correctly, you have no input signal. Stop looking into your power/remote wires and concentrate your efforts on the RCAs.

Well as it is I have no turn-on.. I was just temporarily splicing the wire into some other wire. I think I should just run the long small wire all the way up to the HU and hook it up there.. But I know there has to be an acc by the power ant. I just don't know what color it is.

Tomorrow I will run that second RCA cable in between my seats and just test it and see if it works. I don't think this is the case because even when I tried plugging in that RCA cable, the sub made the tiniest buzzing sound.. I mean quiet.. I know how it is supposed to sound, and the gain was up enough so that it should have been louder.

The power antenna trigger is pink. See if a friend with a system can help you out. Jump his RCAs over to your amp.

Re: Quick question (need fast answer

Ok so it turned out I had my RCA's plugged into the XM pre-out. I remember when I wired, I double checked that I had the pre-out in my hand, and I guess I switched them in the middle of routing the wire by accident..

So now my sub is working.. (time to build an enclosure now lol), and I couldn't find any +acc line so I just routed the damn wire up to the HU and wired it to the same place my HU is wired.

Now I am just hooking up my new components/caps, and cleaning out my car.

Thanks to everyone that helped.. I was about to go crazy because I knew it was some small mistake.

You don't have an enclosure for them yet? All I can say is remember to seal between the sub and the enclosure. My subs came with some thin foam with a sticky backing; this is probably more important in a sealed box because I've heard of cones getting ripped. (over pressured at the right frequency)

                          Have fun!

Well I have one 12", and I'm going to put it behind the seats above the gas tank if you know what I mean.

If you wanna go the distance, I always thought it would be cool to put a sub in the center of the rear seat. so cut a hole in the seat big enough for the sub, and build a box into the back of the seat. The best sound placement I have found is in the trunk well pointing a little bit towards the front of the car.

I spent a day moving my box all around the car :D

The thing is I NEED that trunk space.

I can only afford to have it right there above the gas tank and behind the seats.. It will still be aiming at the glass, is there that much of a difference?
