  • Components cut out, HELP ME!!

long story short if i turn my volume on my head unit up past 40, my components cut out for a few seconds, turn back on for 1 second, then cut out again. rewired the amp 3 times to no avail, turned the gain down, no luck. The subwoofer that is hooked up to the same power source and signal source still hits while the speakers are off. anybody have any ideas? the amp isnt going into thermal protection either

theyre brand new, i dont understand how that would affect the speakers cutting out at a certain volume, wouldnt a loss of signal cause them to turn off at any volume? plus the sub still works, and that amp is piggybacked off the speaker amp

Sounds like thermal protection to me....

Turn the gain all the way down to min and crank the volume. Sure the play really quite, but they don't cut out do they? Proves a point.....

it still cuts out at the same loudness if i turn the gain all the way down... wouldnt thermal protection only kick in if the amp was warm? the amp is ICE cold seeing as how my garage is about 35 degrees right now and im still having the same problems.

the things thats killing me right now is that the damn things worked perfectly for a week! i could turn them all the way up for several minutes at a time without distortion or them cutting out at all

it was the ground, there was a piece of rubber that worked its way in between the ground cable and my fender... works like a charm now, i feel like a complete idiot not checking my ground first...
