Re: New sub box, 2 new subs.

ive got an infinity kappa perfect with dual voice coils that rocks.
you need to find out how many ohms the amp is designed for and if it can be bridged. you can then figure out if it would be better to run single voice coil or dual. you can also wire the subs in series or parallels to get the desired amount of ohms.

I had a 10" alpine type-s that sounded damn good, can't vouch for the 12" version... give RE Audio a call and see if they can help you out, I don't know how much they have within your price range, but it doesn't hurt to try and I know they have a good product

dude that's a baby amp... it's all about RMS power... you're putting out only 400 watt RMS at 2 ohm . I don't know what u plan on doing. I was gonna refer to you some awesome subwoofers but that amp can't push those subs. I have recently sold my Elemental Design subs. It's an awesome sub. You can buy them here 100 shipped with 5 year warranty from elemental design. You will not be disappointed. http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=31
You can push upto 500 watts of RMS power through these subs (even though I ran 560 and still seemed that it could push more) and your amp isn't even powerful to run one of these since you only have 400 watts of power!!!!! Never go by the amps peak rating, always go by the RMS power.

What R u plan on doing? do u wanna keep the dual box, and just buy a new powerful amp and two of those elemental design subs? OR do you wanna just buy a single one of those sub, keep the amp and just get a new single box?

Let us know so that we can guide you though.....you should've asked our help before buying the amp or box. BTW, can u post the link you bought ur box from. I want to know the specs of the box before putting any subs in.

400 watts isnt TERRIBLE... its not a lot of power but it isnt impossible to find a pair of subwoofers that can get pushed by 400 watts.

they aren't bad either...i can personally vouch for them because i had them in my first camaro .... http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...d/DSC00891.jpg
since alpines sound best in smaller sealed box, (and i don't know what's the cubic ft. volume of your box) maybe you can buy some polyfill (pillow material) and put inside the box. If your box is bigger than the suggested volume, that will reduce it a lil.

howd you settle on those? :P

keep us updated, and dont forget to CHECK YOUR WIRING before hooking it up, dual voice coils can be confusing if you havent worked with them much

I see this picture quick question.

my amp has two connection areas instead of the one above.

So just use one or what?

Your amp is bridgeable (@ 2ohm 400 watts RMS) so, this is how you can bridge your amp.

                          Hope this helps.

Last I checked, poly-fill was used to simulate a bigger box. So, if he adds that, it would only make it worse. I may be wrong, but I was looking into doing the same thing when I built a box. When I didn't have enough room for the needed airspace, they recommended putting pillow stuffing in it to simulate a larger box. If you need to reduce airspace, glue some wood into the bottom, or fiberglass over some Styrofoam or something. You want it to be a solid piece though, nothing that will give under the pressure.

You're correct! I knew it was one way or the other . Yes, poly-fill will INCREASE the size of the box. Thanks for pointing it out.

What is pushing your high's? Hopefully not the Head Unit. Why don't you use this amp to push your highs and get a bigger amp to push the low's?
