On that note, let's ask a third party. 96Silverbullet doesn't even have a CD player in his car. Only source of audio is the iPod and FM radio. So what's your verdict Silver? Does the iPod connection suck for base? [sic] :D

Ok first off I know this is an old thread but I just ran across it and I don't even know if the op cares anymore, but I figured I'd answer the question. I've had the Alpine IDA-X001 headunit for 2 months now with my ipod hooked up the entire time. The ipod gives amazing bass, definitely cd quality! The way this new hu is designed is so that you get lossless quality out of your ipod. I know about crappy bass through ipod's I used to have a pos fm transmitter but I can honestly say that there is no difference between bass from a cd and from the ipod on the IDA-X001

Iduno, but as I was driving home, a track from Bass Mekanik came on my iPod and shook the GPS off my windshield. It made me thing of this thread. What HU do you have? I know my Pioneer has individual settings for each input. Technically, I could kill the bass from my external input.

WHat HU do you have? Did you endd up picking up the deh p6800mp? Also, how is the interface workign for you?
