    Re: My new system

This is true, if it does have problems i'll recut the shelf hole to be bigger, or possibly remount it somewhere else. I just wanted it to be nice and tucked away. For the first time building a box and installing everything myself with no prior experience I did not think I did too bad of a job. I have seen truck amp setups where they are put behind the seats in a tighter area then mine so I figured my little shelf would be alright.

it doesnt look bad at all, it actually looks pretty damn good... i just think that you may have cooling problems with it there, the location is pretty creative though. i think a cool solution to the (possible) overheating problem would keep the amp location hidden like you like it, but have the amp shelf double as an exit for a ported set up...

Fix! I lowered the box about 2 inches so its more flush with my seats, and opened the back of the amp shelf up! What do you guys think now? The amp still looks the same from the trunk view, but if you fold the seat down it looks like this.

                  Re: My new system

maybe this has been said somewhere but i must have missed it. did u build the box yourself or just buy it? if you built it yourself, you should've forgotten all about the built in amp rack, and just put the amp inside the actual box, and then ported it. that way, you get more cubic feet, your amp has a nice little home, your system is louder cause of the porting, and all the hot air generated from your amp gets blown out of the ports! but hey just my .02

I built the box myself, the bass is not as clean in a ported setup in my opinion.

                            Re: My new system

that is pretty nice now, but if the hole is blocked by the seats then its probably just as bad, or worse than if the amp rack was facing the rear of the car. the hole needs to be able to get air in and out of it and with it pretty much in a sealed location (open part covered by back of seats.) then it will end up just filling with hot air anyway.

sorry if i misunderstood where the location is, im not thinking of you as an idiot or anything, but if its not facing the rear you should spin it around.
