Has anyone found a way to mount one of these in their car without it looking like crap?

its going to be a custom job most likely, everything that i have seen over a single din is custom... very possible though

So the 00 Camaro has a 1.5-din stereo in the dash? Ick. I had a custom install of a Pioneer in my Supra and it never looked right and was always loose in the dash. I'll stick with the stock system since I went all the trouble to add a MP3 CD changer to it. ;). Thanks for the info. I knew someone had to have tried something similar.

i wouldn't rule out giving it a try, the custom work isn't all that bad... just as long as you have the time to do it right, it'll turn out looking fine. and you'll learn a thing or two in the process

Many many people have fabbed in double din units. How well it turns out depends on the skill level of your installer. Sounds like whoever worked on your supra wasn't too good...

They did the best they could on it. The cosmetic plate was made out of a type of rubber and they had to cut it. It never looked just right. Couldn't use a Dremel tool on it, I guess. I'm just not that good with fabrication and I doubt the guys from American Chopper would look at it for me.

Then go to a different installer. Tell them bondo, sandpaper, and light coats. It will turn out fine.
