This is very personal choices.. What are you looking to get out of this.. just some bass or nice clean sound... sq or spl? How much are you willing to spend?

We could really use a ballpark figure of some kind to work with. Monsoon system? Still have the stock headunit? Looking to replace that too? We usually always recommend better bang-for-the-buck equipment. Many people will recommend the Alpine Type-R for the stealth box. Loves small boxes and is damn freakin nice for the $$$

yeah. i just have the plain old stock stuff. front speakers dont even work anymore. i want a sub that will have nice bass but wont sound like crap. (buzzing is annoying). definitely gonna have a stealth box. everything is going to get replaced. (freaking tape deck! who used tapes in 2000?!) i'm looking to spend less than $700.

Ok so alpine would be nice. For the money you should get the MTX thunderform sub and box. JL and stelth box would be the best but you looking at all your money just in the sub. Later on you can replace your sub with a 10 JL W3. Alpine headunit all the way. As far as doorspeakers go get either Alpine, Polk momo, Focal (there was a good deal at tweeter earlier on these), There are others but go to UAudio and Tweeter and talk to them see what they say as far as doorspeakers go. but the MTX is the way to go with the stealth box from Ebay unless you find just the box somewhere for cheap.

really in my opion i would wait until i had enough money to do it right. i have two mtx 10" SUBS, powered by a 600 wat amp, and a box from subthump. this cost me about $790. it was all bought in Circuit City, and they did a great job.

Just buy one thing at a time like start with the door speakers then upgrade your head unit then get the sub and amp. I agree with dabird19 make sure you do it right. You want something that you can be proud of not some cheap stuff that sounds like a$$.

I also wouldnt buy anything that you cant hear first. Like when I bought my sub and box from ebay I heard the sub in Circut City first. The same with all my other parts I heard them in Tweeter first.

                          Re: best bang for buck

$700 is gonna be a little rough.... but doable. I certainly hope you plan on doing all the labor yourself? Because with install labor, there's no way in hell $700 is going to cover it.

The subthump box is awesome quality, and if the previously mentioned mounting depth fact is correct, I'd stay away from the Ebay boxes for sure. If you can pick a pre-loved subthump box of the boards, go for it. It's a box. No reason to have that new box smell. Who cares.

As for the sub, just stick with a quality brand name and you'll be fine. Like I said, the Type-R is awesome. But I wouldn't hate on you for just going with the Type-S, Kicker Comp, Rockford P1, or Elemental K-series. Any of them are fine. Just make sure it's either a single 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm sub. Either of these configurations will match up with your amp for the most possible power out.

Headunit. Get one that has the features you like. I've installed 100's of Sony's.... I don't like them when compared to other brands in that price range. I'd rather stick with a Pioneer. If you plan on using MP3's, look for that feature. If you plan using your iPod, look for that feature.

Speakers are a little tough. They DO all sound different. Anyone should be easily able to hear a difference brand to brand. I would highly recommend listening to as many pairs as you can before buying. Trying listening to the Polk DB series. Circuit City has them buy one get one 1/2 off all the time. Better than the Kickers or Eclipses IMO. (FAR better than Pioneer's.) Again, it's all preference.

hahaha Polk's dB series is decent. The best stuff Circuit City sells IMO. Like I said, Circuit City offers them buy one get one 1/2 off like twice a month. $75/pair after discount for the 6 1/2"s. Can't fault you on your decision to go with Pioneer.
