I already have HU and componets intalled now im ready for some bass.
I want a sub that has nice clean bass but i want loud bass sometimes.
I need some input. this is the box i want to use.
    Box:
    Holds one 10" sub
    mdf construction
has .6 cu.ft. of air space
    mounting depth is 9"

    I was thinking a 10' Alpine Type R
What amp would be recomonded for this setup?

    Current setup:
    Pioneer HU
    CDT Classic componets 6.5
    Cadence TXA-500HC

Another option is the JL 10W3 would be a good choice. A JL audio 500/1 would be a good choice to go with either sub.

      Re: Sub

ive had both the 10w3 and the type-r, and i would say go with the type-r. the price difference does not make the up for the slight sound quality gain...
      here's your amp

      here's your sub

make sure youre buying the dual 4-ohm voice coil version of the sub, or else you're going to need twice the wattage to push it... or find a 1-ohm stable amplifier

Alot of personal opinions.. I like one brand.. others like others.. In the end go listen to different subs.. and see what you like. No one is really right or wrong here..

Alpine Type-R and a matching Cadence amp to power it. Mismatching amps are .....almost as ugly as a chocolate chip paint job......eww....

          Dual 2 ohm Type-R and this amp @ 1ohm:

im not saying youre wrong... and theres nothing wrong with JL, i owned a 13W7 and a 1000/1 and loved every decibel of it... the problem is that JL = lotza $$$

              Re: Sub

I totally agree JL is EXPENSIVE!!!! I do like Alpine no question there I debated on a few of their products. It comes down to alot of personal opinion, what each of thinks sounds good. That is the real problem suggesting.. any brand.. I'm building 2 subs right now.. not for my car but my home theater useing soundsplinter subs.. I have Eosone speakers in my house.. Audiobahn components in my car. Eclipse head Unit.. I had boston accoustic speakers before..

I am far from a expert.. Alpine makes great stuff no question their.. personaly I like Eclipse a tad better.. now is it worth the cost.. to me yes.. to someone else no.. neither me or you is right or wrong. It is just our opinion.

do you have a wiring digram for that setup?
what does 1 ohm stable mean?

Meaning it can handle a 1 ohm load without overheating and/or kicking into a protection status.

i had a pioneer premier 10" that i thought was a very powerful 10". had a kicker 360 wat amp on it, i found it to be very clean bass all through the volume range.

                        Re: Sub

Take the measurements off the net of the two amps, then the measurement of the amp rack off subthumps page.... see for yourself.

okay well i don't know if you bought anything yet, but i have a 10w3 and a 250/1 amp (all JL) i think that's the way to go. I think it's a good set up but then again i want more bass. It's got really good quality

Does anyone think that the 10w3 could handle a 500/1, or does anyone know if a 10v6 would fit into the MTX stealth box???

                          yeah let's bump
