  • Wire gauges

I need a wire that'll carry a 20-25 amp load with minimal resistance. What kinda wire am I looking at? I understand theres a formula to calculate all this out but I'm lazy.

Anyone know off the top of their head?

There are other factors, such as length of wire. What do you need it for?

Bigger the better, but 8awg is plenty.

8 awg sounds like it will be fine. needs to run about 6 or 7 feet.
also going to need a switch...

guess I'm gonna try Fry's electronics this weekend. I hope I have a fuse big enough...

If you're only running that short distance, 10awg will be plenty. I realize you're not trying to cut it close or pinch pennies, but seriously, 10awg is plenty. Most of your ignition wires in the ignition harness pull more than that. Look what gauge the factory uses.

It will also be easier to connect a switch to a 10awg wire.
