I recently bought a pair of Infinity Kappa 62.7 speakers to replace the 2 fronts that are blown in the car. I have the factory monsoon stereo and was told by the salesperson that I needed a professional to do this install. How easy is it to do?

Re: Speaker replacement
stuff to remember.
don't break any tabs on your door panel! your door will never fit right again,
just unplug the wires to the window and power lock switch, dont try to screw with the panel.
the door lock lever just pops out. your need to take it off first.
if anyone else has any other advice,
fell free to add on, or to tell him that my advice is crap

Re: Speaker replacement
Thanks for the info guys, I didn't think it was a big deal either. I don't have power door locks or windows but I will put the windows down for clearance. I plan on replacing the rears too but not at this time.Stephane
1999 Camaro m5 Black/Red
1999 GSX-R 750 Black/Red

Re: Speaker replacement
It's not just that easy, and that's why the guy said you'll need a pro to do it. Now, it's not impossible, but it's more than just swapping the speaker out.
The Monsoon system has two way speakers in the doors. A woofer and a tweeter. The tweeter is powered directly from the head unit, while the woofer is powered by the monsoon amp in the back of the car. You'll find that the connector to the speaker has four leads. The blue and light blue wires run between the woofer and the monsoon amp. The other two power the tweeter.
Assuming your new speakers are two way, you're going to have to cut the wires to the tweeter, which usually comes out of the cone of the woofer, and hook them up to the remaining two wires from the 4 prong connector. There is usually a capacitor visible in the tweeter's circuit which prevents the bass from going to the tweeter, which will blow it, so make sure you keep it in the circuit. The other blue/light blue wires will go to the woofer.
