  • Infiniti Basslink Problem.

I just bought an infiniti basslink powered subwoofer enclosure. Its for my girlfriend since she doesnt want much power, just some nice bass.

It was open box from best buy because it was the only one left in like...the world or something stupid like that.

I hooked it up to my current system just to see if it works. plug the power, ground, remote and rca from my ipod into the enclosure.

it works fine with everything turned down but when its turned up it starts popping and doesnt play the music because its popping too much and its crackling too.

either the sub is ruined from retards at best buy messing around with it or...

what im thinking is that since my system is more wattage than the 200 watt enclosure...the fuse is high causing it to get too much amperage to the internal amp? im not a super genious when it comes to audio, but i learn stuff everyday and have only delt with a few systems (too poor)... if anyone can think of any way to test then please help. Im thinking of just running a smaller guaged wire from my battery, outside the car, to the back and hooking it up with a smaller amped fuse to see if that works but id rather not do allll that if i dont need to.

    thanks for helping.

    Re: Infiniti Basslink Problem.

The fuse size or gauge of power wire does not determine how much amperage your amplifier receives. The amplifier PULLS the power it needs. So you can connect 0awg wire with a 300amp fuse right into that lil' 200W basslink and it will make no difference over that 8awg wire setup.

Don't try to equal your own subwoofer's output with this 200W Basslink. Surely you have more power and more air displacement. You can't compare the two. Basically, I think you're just pushing the little guy too hard. Ensure the bass settings on your headunit are set to flat. Put the gain knob on the basslink to... say... half way for troubleshooting purposes. Any improvement? If not, take it back and tell the guys in the install bay to give it a whirl real quick. If it's anything like my shop, they have a little setup in the shop to listen to for fun. Helps when a little bench testing it needed too.

Yea. Thanks for making me feel stupid, haha. I should have known that :slap: <- me

      anyway...

Everything on the basslink is turned down. It has an internal amp in it so im not over powering the sub with my amp or anything. The gain wouldnt even go up to 1/4 without making the noise. I forget the other knobs on it, but there are two more that you can barely turn up without it starting to do that.

ill take it to a best buy closer than me because id rather not drive to the one i got it at and hopefully they will test it for me, but if its not working on mine i dont see why it would work on thiers.

      . Thanks.

        Re: Infiniti Basslink Problem.

What do you mean the "RCA from my iPod"? Off the iPod that's connected to your headunit? Or are you trying to use a mini-jack to RCA cable straight out of the headphone jack on the iPod?

Yeah.... unfortunately it does sound fudged up. Any Best Buy will return/test your item. Doesn't have to be the same location.

The other two knobs are likely the crossover frequency and the bass boost.

          Re: Infiniti Basslink Problem.

Yea, i currently have a headphone jack to rca from my ipod because i have no money for my setup i have in mind yet. it works fine with the other amps and speakers so that wouldnt be a problem.

and yea, thats what the other two knobs are, i just wasnt sure what they were called and didnt want to sound like an idiot. ill probably bring it into a best buy and have them test it and if it doesnt work there then ill return it or something.

will it matter if its open box? it was like, the display model one...

Open box carries the same return policy as a new in box item. Probably 30 days. If it is indeed toasted, then get your money back and buy one new online.

How much did you get that thing for?!? They're like $180 shipped off eBay.

If money is an issue, you could always get an amplified Bazooka tube. My father has one in his Audi S4. 8" 100W I believe. Sounds pretty nice.

i payed 110 for mine. i looked into the bass tubes but they dont seem to be as powerful as i think she would want. i was looking into getting the 10 inch bazooka though instead of the 8. but i still think the infiniti would be better. not too sure what to do now.
