I recently picked up a 250 watt (500 max) rockford fosgate 10 inch P2 sub (P210D4). It's a 4 Ohm, dual voice coil. I'm going with the single sub and I'll be mounting it in my stealth box. What do you guys like to use for an amp taking into consideration cost and quality? Give me a brand and model if possible. I don't need anything fancy, as it's just to power the sub, not my speakers.

Re: which amp?
it does sound like a good deal, although its 50 bucks, not 30 for shipping to my door in Canada. I messaged the seller to make sure I won't be charged for brokerage fees when it gets here and if not i'll take.
just as an aside: is it possible that my cheap bazooka amp was responsible for my old sub blowing, even though the max RMS on the amp was under what the sub could handle?

Re: which amp?
Stick with RF and ya can't go wrong! great sound quality, and it bumps.

And as far as quality goes, sure there are better stuff out there, for a price. RF is in the sweet spot of the mid range. you get great quality for a great price. when i went to get my system i did my home work, i compared alot of brands and models, and not just on paper, haha i spent a whole week going around listening to different systems, by then end of week i thought my ears would bleed. RF is IMO one of the best brands to go with, especially when quality is a priority.

Re: which amp?
okay what specs should I be looking for? I know I should read up on this stuff but, how many channels, ohms, and watts do i need for the P2 sub?
how about a JBL GTO 301.1?

Re: which amp?
that a good pick, its always a good idea to have your amp rated a littlehigher wattage then your sub, so it won't stress your amp. here is a great place for some information on wiring, ohms, and the like.

Re: which amp?
^I was always under the impression that you wanted your sub to have higher wattage than the amp so the amp couldn't blow the sub...but that's the second time I've heard your view in as many days.
thanks for your input guys!

Mike, with a dual 4 ohm subwoofer, you'll want to wire both positives and negatives together to present your amplifier with a 2 ohm load. This is the rating you should be looking at during your amp search. (RMS power @ 2 ohms x 1 channel) If you don't like that seller, pick a different one. There are a million.
As for actual power ratings, there are A TON of other parameters that come into play to give you your final power capabilities. If you're in the same ballpark, one way or the other, you're fine.
