    Re: which amp?

First and foremost, THAT IS THE SAME AMOUNT OF POWER OUT! Two channels @ 4ohms versus one channel @ 2ohms. Again, with the entire market the pick from, this is a poor choice.

Second, you are ill advised to hook up any sub in that manner. Each coil must have the EXACT same signal sent to it. If the signals are even the least bit different, they will fight each other. Neither wins. The difference is lost through extra heat. With each coil on a different channel, it is more difficult to achieve. Does each channel output the EXACT same power? Are they both crossed over at the EXACT same frequency with the EXACT same roll-off?
Let's go with something more pertinent to this situation... What if he uses the rear output on his headunit because he has no dedicated subwoofer out. Now uses the balance setting to move the sound stage over to the left a little. The left channel on the amp will be outputing more power than the right. Thereby, sending more power to one coil than the other. You're asking for death.

Once again, with every amp under the sun to choose from, this one is a poor choice for this situation.

well "what if" lightning strikes into his car and hits the amp which causes one channel to surge, and send more power to one voice coil?

Besides, if you connect your subs to the hu's rear output, most will have a menu where u can tell the hu where that sound is going. whether it be extra rear speakers or subwoofers. when selected to subwoofer it outputs a mono signal, so when the sound is faded, or balanced it won't affect the subs

Thank you, you proved my point. by running two channels at 4 ohms each you have the same power as one channel at 2 ohms only now you satisfy both the amp's and sub's ohm requirement/capability

        Re: which amp?

I love that you guys are having fun duking it out...but I got lost along the way.

Should I go with a one channel or two channel amp? I don't need the speakers wired in and although I could wire the amp to my HU, I probably won't.

        Here it is again:

        JBL GTO 301.1

        Specs:
        204 Watts RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms and ? 1% THD + N
        294 Watts RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms, 14.4V supply and ? 1% THD + N
Dynamic Power: 320 watts at 2 ohms

        http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=025

We can worry about the wiring later...for now I just need to know if I should get this one channel amp? Can we ALL agree?

thanks! you guys are great! You answer my question and you made me laugh with your bickering. When I get it I'll probably be back asking more questions about the wiring.
