The boom boom phase came and went within the first month or so of having my first subwoofers. As a fan of music such as classical, big band, some country, jazz etc. it didn't make much sense to blast that music. I should say however, when it comes to alternative rock, which is my favorite, i like bass as long as it sounds clean and crisp. It gives the music some body which i think is necessary. However, i'd still take a set of clear sounding speakers over a loud subwoofer any day.
When I was 16 i got my first car, a 94 Bonneville. Yeah i threw two Sony Xplode subs in the back and liked a lot of bass. Then I got my Firebird, sold the subs cause I knew they wouldn't fit in the back, I didn't want them too either haha. So now I just want a good set of speakers that put out quality sound. I still listen to my music cranked, just I don't want insane amounts of bass. Over the course of the time I've had my car, I've managed to blow all 6 stock speakers, and am looking to buy some quality ones that can still be powered by my stock monsoon amp. Right now the sound quality in my car is horrible, on the equalizer I have the two lower bass channels turned all the way down otherwise all you hear is rattling...
yea, i managed to blow the Bose sails, and just never liked the SQ of the stockers...next time i get paid i'll probably have a good round of speaker shopping...the Jensens are starting to fart out...
