  • Amp location.

So I was wondering where you guys mounted your amps? My current setup is as follows: 2 - 12" Hifonic HFi12D4, dual 4 ohm voice coil, 600w 12's powered by an MA Audio Hk1000D. I'm debating on going 5% tint in the rear and mounting it behind the rear seat for optimal air flow. I wanted to mount it under the passenger seat but there just isn't enough room for it.

Right now, my amp is just sitting in the little cubby hole in the left of the hatch... not even screwed down. Eventually one I build my fiberglass enclosure for that area, I'll be mounting the amp on the back wall just under the hatch latch.

I've decided to just go with one of the subthump ttop boxes, could mount it under the box but im not sure how good the ventilation will be.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking too heh, i may just go ahead and go 5% tint in the rear and 35% on the sides and mount it behind the rear seat.

That's what I'd do...Prolly the only way you can get proper ventilation to it...

Just to let you know, you'll still easily be able to see your amp through the tinted window. Speaking from experience. That window is far to large to hide anything. Will subthump's amp rack fit in place with the T-top box?

Not sure on the amp rack, but it'd still be under the box which would still get fairly hot. 5% is extremely dark, I've never seen a car that you can see in with 5% even sticking your face right up on the window.

I have 5% on my back window and use to have my sub behind the seat. During the day, it hid it pretty good, unless you were close and really looking in there. At night is was easier to see, because there wasn't as much glare off the glass.

How the hell could they even find your car at night? I haven't seen a black car that looks that good in a while.

Haha :) I'm debating on going black when I repaint my camaro. Its currently NBM, Y87 package. 10 years of wear and that factory paint job is ready to be freshened up :)

With a window that faces the sky? You're not comparing apples to apples. I had 5% on the rear glass. I even had it metered 3 or 4 times while failing safety inspections. I'm not making up randomness. Give it a try. I guess we'll see.... Or will we?
