Well, when I bought my car, it had a 200W clarion amp and a JL 10" woofer, all powered through 8AWG wire. I've since put in a RF 325.1 (running at ~400W) and 2 12" CVR's, still using the same wiring. A friend just gave me an older Clarion APA4160 amp for my 6.5's and a cheap Legacy cap. I want to run all of these, and possibly swap out the 325.1 for a larger 700W amp the my cousin has. Now, I know the 8AWG wire won't handle all of that :P. I had planned on buying a 4AWG kit and a fused distribution block. I would replace the 8AWG with the 4AWG, back to the capacitor, to the distribution block, where it'll split to 8AWG to each amp. I'd use the old wire kit for the 8AWG sections, and for the grounds (except for cap, it would have 4AWG). Then run 14AWG speaker wire to the 4 speakers and the 2 subs. Should that handle the power fine? Any suggestions? This is a budget build, and all I have left to get is the remaining wiring and 2 sets of RCAs.

And you can't just use the top of the cap for a distribution block? Screw down a couple ring terminals on there?

Re: Wiring thoughts?
Thank you Ken! I also just talked to a buddy who has some high quality, 14 gauge speaker wire he'll sell me. $.30/foot; going to get 50 feet so I can do all the 6.5s and redo my subs.~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

Re: Wiring thoughts?
No problem man. Like I said, use the top of the cap as a distribution block if it will allow for it. We do it all the time. Great way to upsell someone who already needs a d-block. :)
Hows FIT coming? Now that I have my AA degree, FIT offered me $19k to transfer over there. Too bad that would be gone in less than one year over there....
