Current system is 2 12" Kicker CVRs in a ported trunk well box powered by a RF Punch325.1 (2 channels with roughly 200W@2Ohms) and running from a JVC KD-AR480. Love the headunit BTW :). Anyways, I got bored and looked up some subs. I found the 10" RF Punch HE fits perfectly with my amp (200RMS/300Peak) if I get 2 of them. Then I was thinking, why not stealth boxes (driver's and passenger's side). My current system pounds (thinking about entering a comp if one is near me), but I'm getting kinda bored of it. How do you guys think this will sound/hit?

Re: Debating a new system
Alright. I'm gonna hit up a local shop tomorrow and see if he has a meter or knows anyone who does. I wanna see what I'm hitting right now.~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

Re: Debating a new system
What you need is a bigger amp :slap:. CVRs are very tough subs, that can handle WAY more than what your giving them. They're rated at 400rms and 800peak each. but its perfectly acceptable to over power these subs a little (especially if you are in a competition), believe me they can handle it. I run two 12" CVRs with a 900rms/1800peak mono amp so thats 450rms and 900peak to each sub. since your only feeding both subs 200/300, thats a measly 100rms and 150peak each . Now grant it RF amps routinely outperform they're rated specs, but still the point is you are under powering your subs, BY FAR. If you plan on competing, you need a bigger amp(s). I wouldn't even think about entering a competition with my setup, let alone yours, and I'm feeding the same subs over 4 times as much wattage, mine however are in a sealed box :( (i wish i had a ported box though.) If you want bigger sound (spl) a new amp is they way to go. Also make sure your wiring is top notch, ATLEAST 4awg power and ground, and 12awg speaker wire to your subs. Also make sure your electrical system is up to the task ie- battery, alternator, wiring. That doesn't necessarily mean aftermarket, but atleast make sure they are up to par.

Re: Debating a new system
I was going to mention the same thing, but I don't think he is looking for more output. If so, why would he switch to dual 10"s sealed?
Also, figured I wouldn't bother mentioning because you're going for a different setup, but are you sure you have the punch 325.1? The 325.1 is a 1-channel amp that does 325WRMSx1@2ohms. (Hence the .1 in 325.1) It may have two pairs of output terminals on the amp, but I'm sure if you read the owners manual it will tell you they are paralleled together internally. Many amps have this. Companies claim it's for ease of connecting multiple subwoofers. (As if that was real difficult anyway) Just confuses the hell out of people IMO.Last edited by 96firebird311; 07-16-2008, 09:20 AM.

It is the 325.1. It does have the two outputs ran parallel internally; I just say 200Wx2 for the ease and simplicity of not having to explain to a reader how my 1 channel amp has 2 sub inputs, I've never had anyone bring it up that it is a single channel like you have :P. The spec sheet that came with the amp said it ran 418W RMS, so for 2 subs, that'd be just over 200W each.
I'm going to check out this other amp, and hopefully get it if the price is right (IIRC, he said $40). There is a competition this Sunday; I don't really want to compete, I just want to know where I stand as far as dB metering goes. I'll probably enter, go through the qualifying rounds to get an idea of where I stand and then leave.Last edited by RadRacer; 07-16-2008, 10:36 AM.~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~
