What's cheap? I would expect to pay a bare MINIMUM of $75/pair. Even at that price.... hard to find something decent. No. Pioneer is not decent. So don't even think about it.
lol i know he so has to get one, im surprised he knows all this info w/o having one anymore.....oh and btw 96firebird311, what would u recommend for under $150/pair? thnx for the help
lol Thanks. I guess that's why i used to be the mod round these parts.:P
Any of the above mentioned brands are great. I'd avoid Pioneer, Sony, Dual, Lightening Audio and Jensen. Some may seem like trustworthy brands, but their speakers are junk. Sound like crap and little reliability. You may not need to spend $150/pair on speakers unless you plan on throwing an amp on them. $100/pair will get you out of the "junk category." But it's a felony in some states to buy expensive speakers and power them off the headunit. Get what I'm saying?
Sure does :), now we just have to talk him back into a F-Body!
BAH!! hahaha! But I've told myself I'm not owning a car more than a few years old anymore. Dependability is king at where I am in life right now. It's not just a play toy. It's my daily driver. I might look at the 5th gens when they're released, but not likely. My firebird was bulky and sloppy in the corners. The 8 handles like it's on rails. Just as quick too. Sorry guys.:(
lol yea thnx for the help...does it matter if all i have is the monsoon hu...not the whole system just the hu, my stock one was messed up. Got it here cheap and needed it
No, mind elaborating...sorry for all the questions
No worries. I mean why spend a bunch of money for something you're not going to utilize to it's potential with an amplifier? Would you buy a drag car to putt around town in? Of course not. But at the same time, you don't want a Kia Rio either. lol Polk, CDT, Alpine Type-Rs, Boston SX, and Elemental Designs should all make a 6 1/2" in that price range. Should all be under ~$110. Focal and Morel start a bit more expensive.
And you're already using the Monsoon headunit in your car without Monsoon?
oh i thought it was bad getting it for a second there, sure made it sound 10x better than b4. i bought it from meatyshells for like 50 bucks.....i was going to go aftermarket but didnt like the look compared to stock...eventually i will switch it out
I'd avoid Pioneer, Sony, Dual, Lightening Audio and Jensen.
I agree with this.. though the higher end Pioneers aren't bad. If you're looking for just something to replace a blown stock speaker, there's no reason to put high end stuff in. I'm personally a fan of polk... a pair of 6.5s are like 75 on ebay.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
