Re: best bang for your buck interior speakers?

I had a friend who ran all Pioneer Premier line equipment and seemed to be happy with it. But the cheap junk they sell at all big box stores is a waste of money. CC has buy one get one 1/2 off on Polk all the time. Makes them $75/pair. Possibly a good point about buying at CC is you could spend the extra $25 or whatever it is, and purchase the warranty on ONE PAIR. Then if ANY speaker blows within a couple years, they have an over the counter replacement policy. Speakers don't have serial numbers. They have no clue if the blown speaker came from the pair you bought warranty on or not. Easy way to save a few bucks and scam the system.lol :)

EDIT: Speaking of which, they're on sale now. lol

And I just checked. It's $25 for 2 years or $40 for 4 years warranty coverage. 40 bucks my seem like a lot, but if ANY of your speakers fail within four years, BOOM, brand new pair. You could always "make them fail" at the 3 year 11 month mark.

Yup. 6 1/2" in the front and rear will fit fine. For 75 bucks, they're pretty damn good. The only speakers you're going to find cheaper than that are the above mentioned crappy brands.

There actually are some cheaper ones that aren't crap.

          http://www.crutchfield.com/g_52000/6...ers.html?tp=95

Infinity, Alpine, JBL are all great too... though i'm a Polk person myself. I've heard some people say good things about kenwood... but I think they're in the same league with the (low-end) sonys and pioneers. Sure they'll sound great compared to a blown stock speaker, but if you hook up one of the other brands, you'll instantly notice a quality difference. They're good if you're really on a budget and just want something not broken. Most brands have a cheaper and a more expensive models, and i think the lower pioneers, sonys, and kenwoods are not quite as good as the other brands, in that category.

Oh and crutchfield should really only be used as a browsing tool as since they're prices are usually 20% higher or so.

            Agreed on all accounts.

Wasn't impressed with the Alpine Type-S's, hence me specifying the Type-Rs. I haven't been a real fan of ANY Kenwood speaker (subs included). All lines of Infinity have always been good to me however. Haven't heard much from JBL other than subwoofers, which were very nice.

Re: best bang for your buck interior speakers?

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I have a question that's pretty inline with this thread and didn't feel the need to make a new one.

The Polk's recommended earlier in this thread seem nice, but my knowledge of car electronics sucks. I blew out one of my front speakers a while back so I need replacements, everything else is stock that came with the Monsoon system.

From reading this section of the forum I think these speakers would be a direct fit with a bit of splicing that I'm kinda scared to do, but I remember reading somewhere that I shouldn't connect this 4 ohm speaker to where the factory 2 ohm speakers used to be. Am I completely off?

Re: best bang for your buck interior speakers?

There is some splicing involved, but there's no reason to be scared. I have personally installed the Polks with the Monsoon. There are no problems.

Everything should be pretty straight forward if I follow the post on LS1Tech about how to hook it up?

Sure. Tweets to one pair of wires. Mid to the other. Like you're hooking up two separate speakers..... because you are. lol
