  • monsoon amp question!

i have an 02 bird with the monsoon system and i was wondering is there any way to splice the wires on the amp to make it work with aftermarket headunits? or is there a headunit that would allow you to connect the amp harness into it?

Switching the headunit for aftermarket is no different with the Monsoon system than without. Buy the harness, dash kit, and GM antenna adapter.

EDIT: How much you looking to spend? I recommend the Pioneer 4000 or higher.

If you have an APPLE iPOD (not just any MP3 player), then I recommend the 3000 with the iPod cable addition. (The USB connection in the higher-end players, like above, does not turn the iPod on/off automatically with the car. VERY annoying)

              Re: monsoon amp question!

Switching out the headunit doesn't magically un-run the speaker wire from the amp and directly to the speakers....

Of course it uses the Monsoon amp. If you don't want to take my word for it, do some research. People have been doing this for years.

                  Re: monsoon amp question!

It's possible that the smaller adapter is infact for the CD changer. All the f-bodies came pre-wired for it. Under the driver's rear panel (under the hatch) you should find the other end.

If that's not the case, steering wheel controls?

Why we're calling it adapter... I have no clue. LOL!
