Re: front speakers
IIRC, the monsoon door speakers use 2 ways, in which the woofer is powered by the amp, and the tweeters are run off of the HU. i believe you'll be ok if you just buy a new set of speakers and wire them to the wires powering the woofer, but i'm not absolutly sure...someone with more Monsoon knowledge will chime in i'm sure

95 is correct. What you need to do is buy a 2-way (often called coaxil) speaker where the wires for the tweeter are visible and easily accessible. Snip the wires that go to the tweeter and power them off the headunit. Plug the normal terminals on the speaker into the Monsoon amp. Each part will be powered independently and will crossed over correctly. I've done this myself several times with awesome results.
I used the Polk db series.

Re: front speakers
Oh yeah.... you're that guy. lol
These are the times I wish you just lived closer to me. For a fellow f-body enthusiast, I'd just invite you over and hook you up. It's no thing.
Well, you say he has chopped off the harness behind the radio and hacked at the harness or harnesses at the monsoon amp..... **** man..... it might be time to just connect power up to the factory harness and run new speaker wire to each speaker individually. We have no clue exactly what he was shooting for with his install. Plus I'd hate for you to have issues with the factory amp, his wiring, or some combination of the two. Running your own speaker wire is the only trustworthy thing I can tell you to do.

Re: front speakers
You can just hook them up to the Monsoon amplifier wires if you like. Not sure how much of those high frequencies you'll get though.
If it were me, I'd hook them up like mentioned above. If they blow, do my best to undo what I did and stick them back in the box. Odds that the 19-year old girl at customer service is going to notice is slim. If she does notice, odds that she really cares is slimmer yet.
Again, if you lived by me, I'd have you come in the back door and I'd return them for you. LOL
I think RadRacer is the only one who lives near me. He seems to know enough about his car to where he doesn't need my help.:( hahaha:DLast edited by 96firebird311; 10-01-2008, 08:31 AM.

Re: front speakers
I never said that now :). I'm pretty audio enthused or w/e, but I need help every now and again. Plus, I don't go to FIT anymore, I go to school in Ft. Pierce now, so it's completely the opposite direction :(. I might shoot up that way every once in a while to stop in and snag a deal :)

And open-box specials are usually our best deals. Sometimes crazy cheap and often barely used. Sometimes not used AT ALL. There's been times where I need, say, the remote bass knob out of an MTX amp box. We open it up, use the knob, and sell the amp cheap as open box. People do not return car audio products as much as they do other items. Especially if I install it. (Because labor is non-refundable. So they'd be losing money by returning only the gear)
Another popular scenario I just thought of. Computer shows someone has 6x9s in the rear. Customer purchases the 6x9s and asks us to install them. Most of the time one of us will rip the box open to prep everything while the other is disassembling the rear panels..... just to found out they're actually 5x7's in the rear. lol
Or same type of scenario, but we get the door panels off and realize the car has a funky Bose system. Even though it's not marked anywhere. If they're not willing to fork over extra cash for extra work or parts, there's nothing I can do for them. I've had to put the car back together, refund ALL of the customer's money, and send them away.:(Last edited by 96firebird311; 10-01-2008, 04:13 PM.
