I have a 2002 Firebird V6 with the basic sound system. The door speakers are busted and I want to replace them (they are rattling while driving down the road and driving me crazy). All I want to do is replace them. What diameter are they and is there any special connections? I am not wanting to replace the sound system and don't know nothing about sound systems. Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is my first post and I hope I got in the right location.

Re: Door Speakers
Welcome to the board and you're in the right location. Here's our FAQ section. It's in the Modifications Encyclopedia.

Door speakers are the same size regardless of Monsoon or Base sound system. Like any factory speaker, they will have special factory connectors on them. I suggest just stripping back the insulation on the wires just behind the connector. Then use the wire probably included with your new speakers to splice in there and either solder the connection and then tape..... or be a slack and just tape it.:p

Scroll down to the pictures of splicing/soldering/crimping. The last few where it talks about "poking a hole in the wire" is the type of splice I'm referring to. You do not need to cut the wires or cut off the speaker connector.Last edited by 96firebird311; 10-05-2008, 03:58 PM.
