  • New old speakers :)

Well, this has been my set-up for some time now: Pioneer 3 ways up front with cheapo Jensens in the rear (tweeter blew in them so I ripped it off :D). Well, I just picked me up a set of Eclipse SC8362 component set, missing the crossovers. These things are beefy and will definitely be going on an amp. Rated at 100W/200 Max, they'll go perfectly with my Clarion APA4160 (bridgeable to 100W). Here's some pics comparing the speakers:

These are not in yet, just had to post up about them. I'm hoping to do the install this weekend; these up front on an amp, and move my Pioneers to the rear, hoping they'll fill somewhat!

    BTW- Thanks Ken!!

Hey no problem man. Like I said, they're a little rough cosmetically, but can't complain for a 12-pack of Mountain Dew. And let me tell you.... that first one.... was OH so good.

Put a capacitor inline with the tweeters to block out low frequencies. Right around 55ufd would be good. That should high pass them at about 700Hz. For the midranges.... if you can get your hands on some inductor coils, probably around 0.53000mHy would low pass them nicely. Of course, I have no clue what type of crossovers your amp will have built in. Probably just basic HP OR LP filters. You could always build yourself a little component crossover.:) Radio shack should have everything you need. Or maybe you can pick up a lonely set of component crossovers off eBay for $3.

I'm checking eBay right now :). If I can't get a set for cheap, I'll build em like you said; those electrical engineering classes will finally pay off :P. Amp does have just basic HP or LP, which sux, but for the price I paid and what I'm using it for, I can't really complain. I wanted that Memphis amp, but money's kinda short now :(. Any tip on mounting the tweeters? I'm thinking of just putting them in the doors like most do, but it doesn't look like any mounting stuff is there, so I'm trying to figure that out :P

BTW- Checked out MSRP on these things; $300. I'm sure you could find a set for a lot cheaper, but still not as cheap as I got em

Just finished e-mailing a guy on eBay; had the same speakers and is selling the crossovers :). What are the chances of that happening!!

best components i ever had were in my old car. my TMAs 150watts RMS. hooked them to my kicker 250.2 giving them 125rms each. when i was in high school i had the loudest system in school but not bass wise just my highs. TMAs are cheap too and very hihg quality because there made by JL audio. i think i paid 125$ brand new from an audio store with 1 year warrenty but never had problems.

alright, got a set of crossovers and hooked them up the other day. Things sound great with supposedly 100Ws going though them (old Clarion APA4160; not too sure how accurate it is). I'm trying to pick out an amp to put them on; I was thinking the P200.2 since it matches my current P325.1, but it's rated for 50W @ 4 Ohms; RF generally under-rates their amps (my 325 puts out 415), but I'm still trying to decide if this amp will be big enough. Speakers are made for 100W RMS....

lol, still haven't decided how I'm going to mount the tweeters; I'm most likely going to cut holes in the door panel, but I'll have to make up some brackets or something. I had originally planned on running them off that Clarion I have, but after trying to clean it up, there's no way it's going to look pretty unless I completely disassemble it (still an option, but not sure when I'll have the time during the holidays). From the way things are going though, I might be sticking with the Clarion as I can't find a decent 100W RMSx2 amp for under $50 used :(.
