  • Kicker subs and Monsoon subs problem? kinda long

Maybe one of you guys can help me out, so heres my problem-
My car originally had that monsoon sound system with the stock sub, well about a year and a half ago, I got 2 12' kickers, a new deck, and a amp, and when it got installed I guess they turned off the stock monsoon sub.

Well about a week ago I decided to change my deck and amp to a better brand because my deck would no longer play cds no more. So I had them installed and such but now when I listen to certain songs with deep bass like Late Nite Tip, my subs will suddenly turn off and I can hear the stock monsoon sub playing it. Why is that? I never had this problem before...Anyone know anything i can do to fix this?

Sounds like your new amp is kicking into protection. Park the car. Pop the hatch. Play some deep bass loudly and watch the amp. Any green lights turn to red? Any lights just turn off? Any protection lights on? If your amp doesn't have these lights, (which all do) back the bass boost and gain down a touch and try again. Still kick off right away?

K so its not the amp cuz the amp never goes into protect mode or turns off, its fine the whole time, its just the subs, they just stop playing and then 20 seconds ater they come back on...any other suggestions guy? im not really sure what the problem can be

First and most important question..... do you have a multimeter you can use?

Subwoofers are a pretty simple beast in themselves. There's no electronics. If they're given a signal, they're gonna do something. They're gonna move at least somewhat. If they don't move, they're not getting juice.

Problem only happens during heavy bass and great power demands.... then subwoofers come back on and play fine afterwards. Sorry man. But that's a dead ringer of an amp kicking into protection. Back the gain and bass boost down a little. Turn the bass setting on the headunit down a click. Now play that Three 6 Mafia again AT THE SAME VOLUME SETTING. Yes the bass will not be as loud. We're just trying to prove a point here.
