I purchased a stock headunit for $50 and everything works except that the LCD doesn't light up. If you get the sun right on it or a light pointing at it well, it does display time and station, etc. But it does not light up. Is there any way to fix this? is there an led that lights up the display or would i just have to find a good used one or new one. I'd heard of somewhere that fixes the lcd display, but i think it was about $160 and that's a bit high for a radio i payed $50 for. Any help is appreciated.

Re: LCD display on Monsoon head unit
Agreed. You might not be able to get an aftermarket radio and all parts for $50, but I bet you could do it with $100. Visit your local Circuit City and see what they have left. Just bought a TV from there for $1346 brand new in box. Amazon is selling it for $1634 as of this morning. The manager threw in a free wall mount too! "Last 10 days" is posted all over my local store. So you better hurry up.
Sorry I don't have an answer to fix your display. I've heard of it before, but don't recall anyone ever actually fixing it. Everyone just goes aftermarket, gets better sound quality, tons more adjustability, and a whole slew of upgrade possibilities (iPod control, MP3 playback, Sat radio, bluetooth, etc).
