Just ranting, But heres the story. Had an alpine CDA-9813 unit back in the day (because thier name held something back then) and this thing was amazing. well it broke and i ended up swapping out for the newer alpines. Somewhere along the lines Alpine decided to go cheap and start making better looking headunits but not the same quality without telling me. I ended up switchin to pioneer (I forget but i think it was the DEH 770) but was again disappointed. I ended up scouring ebay for the older model alpines (CDA 9813/9815/9833...) and i ended up finding and instaling a used 9833. I didnt relize how many functions these alpine HU had. and the quality of sound over the other two HU was amazing. If your into some comp. tuning for sound or a really anal listener this is the way to go. I just dont understand why alpine would sacrific their rep to lower cost. go figure anyway hope this helps someone out

I have a Alpine deck with a USB built in and the sound quality is outstanding plus I can use my 32GB USB card and have up to 10,0000 songs stored on it. I love it, I'll have to look which model it is but it only has radio, USB , or a CD changer(which I don't have) but the USB is fine for me it plays it in a MP3 or 4 format so the sound is great , I only have 500-600 songs on it so I have aways to go. I also have their 10" Alpine type X sub and it really is great on quailty and sound.

i put an alpine head in my old mans truck and it sounds amazing. better than my pioneer. he has kicker 4x6 in the dash with a cvr 10 behind the seat, it sounds damn fine. i have a pioneer head with ample door components and rockford in the rear, sounds adaquate.

I had Sony before their top of the line head unit, but the Alpine I think is much better. I'm def. hooked on Alpine now.

I never had a 10" sub before , always had 2 -12" KIcker Solo Barics which was crazy loud. So I wanted something more compact and still had good bass. So I got a subthump box with a Alpine type R and it was good for quality sound but didn't have the loud deep bass I wanted. So I saw they had a Type X that was bigger 32lBS compared to 19LBS of the type R. So I got the type X in the subthump box and it was alot louder and deeper than the type R. This is running off of my old PPI 2300am amp. I love the Type X 10" , I think later on I will add another to the passenger side and run 2 of them and I think they will sound close to the 2 12" kicker solo barics I was running.

The Type-R is an outstanding woofer for the money. You must understand you're using a single 10" in a small sealed box, when you previously had two 12" woofers in a much larger box. I'm not arguing the superiority of the Type-X, just sticking up for the Type-R.:)

The Kicker 12" solo barics were in a .88 cuft. box almost the same as the subthump but I always use alittle poly fill in my boxes, I'm not putting down the Type R , it sounds great but the type X is louder and deeper with the same sound quailty as the Type R, I plan on putting the Type R in my wifes Vue since she wants a little more bass. and not take up alot of room in the back, for the dogs or groceries etc. A small 10" box with a amp mounted to it shoudn't take up too much space.

The stealth box has .6 cuft of air space. That's over a 30% reduction versus the boxes you had before. Look at the percentage versus the small numbers themselves. Admittedly, your previous boxes were pretty small.... but the stealth box is tiny.:)

EDIT: And why I seem so defensive over the Type-R... I have no idea. I'm running Kicker CompVRs right now. LOL

Just fun to debate I guess.

                    Re: Old alpines rock

Since I have ran both in the same box and about the same power with the same amp and everything else the same. I think I can make a comparison test on the 2. I paid about double for the type X over the type R, the R is good but the X is alot better if your looking for a louder alpine 10". Would the 2 type X's be louder than my 2 12" kicker solo barics I highly doubt it, they were pretty loud, I needed a extra Optima in the rear so my volts wouldn't drop. The PPI 2300AM amp I have, I had modified with bigger internal capaciters and input/output transistors and bigger gauge wires , so it had been modified a bit. I ran 4 -15" kickers off this amp at one time so it can put out alot of power, I had 4 Optima batteries/ 1-1farad cap when it was running in my old 83' caviler(155-160db) in 93'-94'. All Infinity Ref. series componets for mids & highs with 2 other PPI amps. I won 2 1st places and 1 2nd place car DB shows. I still have a Mass Engineering 200 amp Alt. with 2 rectofiers with adj. volt meter control paid $600 for it back then. This is when I worked for a car stereo place for about a year or so.

I know , was just telling people the difference between the 2 subs. So they can pick between depending on their budget choice about $100 for type R and about $200 for the type X. I'm type X, wife is type R. LOL If I could of found some old round 10" Kicker solo barics I would of loved to run them.
