  • Sealing the sail panels?

I've got a set of RF 6.5" woofers in my sailpanels, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to seal it up, so it's more like a sealed box; these woofers aren't made for open air, so they'll sound alot better once sealed.

They make plastic inserts that can mount behind the speaker so it is enclosed.

I've seen those; they're made out of cheapo thin plastic like those kiddie firefighter hats. Won't hold up to any kind of thumping, but looking like my only option. I'm planning on placing an order through crutchfield in a month or so and will probably grab 2 just for the hell of it.

put some fiberglass resin on it to stiffen it up some more if you get the baffels

You can also put some poly fill in behind the speaker. The fiberglass is a great idea the 6.5" ers aren't going to flex the platic much.

I just stuffed the hell out of my sail panels with wall insulation. R32 I think. Not exactly sealed, but it cut down road noise a good bit, and the speakers literally sound night and day better.

^ I used some sound deadening material after I used some foam to fill in and block off some spaces(the widow foam stuff, use moderately), kind of made a area out of sound deadening material on each side, I put KIcker 3 way 6X9's in there so they have some mid bass and high's with 100 RMS going to each.
