  • brake fluid leak?

My brake fluid went about half way down in two or three weeks I filled it, it did it again in the same period of time. I'm stupid when it comes to brake, never use them anyways lol any ideas?

Umm, take it to a shop and get someone who knows something about brakes to look at it?

what year is your car? look around the rear wheels to see if it is wet. could be a wheel cylinder bad if you have drums on the rear.

Start by inspecting the calipers, front and back, on the inside and out, and see if anything looks wet or darker that the surrounding areas. You may have a leaky caliper.

follow your brake lines to each wheel...my rear brake line was rusting and slowly leaking...I fully blew it out at the race track when I did my burn out...

Check the inside of all 4 tires and wheels. One of them should be wet with brake fluid. If not, check all 4 brake hoses, one of them must be leaking.

Fix this right away, no brakes is no joke...

I dont believe there is one...you need to just follow it yourself...if you are doing the brake lines, you need a special bender...you cannot just bend the pipe with your hands...it will crimp and not flow properly, which is a safety issue...I am not sure if you can rent the benders, but you should be able to buy em for pretty cheap, depending on which ones you get...

Please don't take this the wrong way, but the questions you're asking lead me to believe you really don't know much about brake systems, and for your, your friends and family, and all those innocent bystanders out there's sake I would urge you to at least get a friend who does know something about them to help you. An internet forum is the wrong place to learn how to work on brakes. My $.02

Its not hard to do...you will have to bleed the lines several times...make sure you watch the fluid level in the container...do not let it go empty while you are bleeding the lines...After you complete everything, continue to check your brake fluid everyday ATLEAST, for a good 1-2 weeks...I would actually check it pretty much before and after every drive...if you run out of fluid because you are leaking somewhere...you will have no brakes...

Please get a proper bender though, otherwise you will also have no brakes...those lines will crimp if you try to do it with your hands. The job doesn't look that big, but it is acutally quite time consuming...I had do to my whole rear brake line and both lines to each drum...I started the project with all the lines already pulled from the day before, at about 5pm on a friday night, and did not finish until 7am Saturday morning...and that is with a buddy helping me out who also knew what he was doing...

Also, you will need a flaring tool...which you should be able to rent...lack of sleep made us flare the damn line a couple of times without putting the fitting on lol...and that was right after we both said 5 mins before "don't let me F*ckin flare it this time without the fitting on."...so ya lol, make sure you really pay attention and leave yourself some extra room to work with, so that if you do mess up...you dont have to cut a whole new line. Those bends are a PITA. ALSO, make sure you watch for moving suspension parts...try to follow the factory route as closely as possible...especially for the rear lines...they travel along the rear axle in a way that they avoid the bump stops crushing them when you hit a BIG bump...keep this in mind...cause when you do it, you'll be asking yourself why GM routed the lines in such a retarded way...
