  • Poly Bushings

I was recently considering upgrading my bushings to poly bushings, as well as swapping some suspension parts (shocks, LCA's, etc).

In my research, I had a though, which brought up a question -

I know if I go with poly bushings, I should grease them at least twice a year. What I was wondering, is can I use WD-40 for lubricate the bushings? That would make the task a heck of a lot easier, as I could just spray it on and be good to go.

So, if those of you with poly bushings want to chime in, or if you all just want to let me know what bushings/suspension set up you're running and why, I'd appreciate it!

If they have grease fittting use a grease gun either lithuim or reg GM red grease works fine, LCA's ,Panhrad rod will probably have grease fittings on them already. Sway bars unless you get them with brease fittings which is great, you'll have to take the bushings off grease them and put them back on. For shocks you don't need to grease anything, except if you have QA-1's its good to spray them with silicone, keeps them shiney and makes them easier to adjust.

Just the man I was thinking of when I was typing up that question!

Thanks for clearing it up, I didn't realize that they had a grease fitting.

Stock componets don't have grease fitttings like tie end rods , bushings, etc. Thats where the factory gets you because you can't grease them so they will run out and need replaced they hope you take it back in for service. All most all the aftermarket LCA's, Panhard rods, Tie end rods and some sway bar bushings will have grease fittings. Which for sway bars , its nice not to take it off to grease the fittings.

Good deal... Do you know where I could find sway bars with the grease fittings?

Ok, I'll definitely check it out... What suspension set up are you running as far as LCAs, Sway Bars, and shocks go?

And you don't have any regrets about any of those?

I assume the tub K was for weight reduction and turbo pipe fitment?

No regrets about any , some parts like LCAS and Panhard rod I have had for 10 years and still working great.

Well, I just priced out all of those parts since I want to start modding my suspension... Expensive stuff! Then again, what isn't on cars?

I think I have spent at least $5000 in suspension with rims/tires, drag radials, skinnies and suspension parts the Tub K ,A arms ETC. So it adds up over the years.

                            Hate to double post, but...

Do you happen to remember the part number for your tub k?

I'm looking at them now (just making a list of stuff to buy), and there are two by BMR... the KM003 and KM005. The difference I see in the descriptions is that the KM003 comes with LS1 motor mounts, and the KM005 comes with motor mounts that will work with first generation small block or big block Chevrolet engines.

Which fits the 3800? I assume the KM003...
