  • Best lowering springs for a DD??

OK, I am now an official member of the C5V6 club and am looking into lowering springs to eliminate my 4x4 look on the camaro. I am looking specifically for a set that will drop me no more than an 1.5", preferably an inch after all, this is a daily driver.

The shocks in this combo will be Bilstein HD up front and KYB Gas A Just in the back. The springs I'm looking at are Voghtland, Hotchkis and BMR, anyone have these and thoughts?

Also, anyone running the heater hose mod WITH lowering springs or is this unnecessary?

    Thanks!

p.s. I can't stop myself from modding, help! :naughty:

My vote would be for the Hotchkis springs. They're about an 1" drop and are progressive rate. If not those, the Voghtland springs are good too.

And yes, you can do the heater hose mod with lowering springs.

X2 , on the Hotchkin springs the V name that are on ebay for a really good price like $130 or something like that, a 1" drop would be perfect along with the rear heater hose mod 5/8" hose I believe works well. But if you can I would go with Blisteins all way around or if you already have the Blistein up front go with a KYB adjustables in the rear instead of their regular shock. Or KYB's adj.'s all the way around. But doing the Blisteins up front is a great idea because the rears are alot easier to swap if you want to put a better shock in there, so I think your doing it right putting the Blisteins up front first. Good luck with the install.

Definitely Hotchkis. I'm running the Hotchkis and actually noticed an improvement in ride quality.

          what about summit racing springs?

          http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-720104/

They're rather cheap compared to eibach's sportline and pro kit.

Anyone run them? I was considering these or just grabbing a set of eibachs.

Maybe not those...they're for Mustangs. But if you really wanted to run some no name stuff, you could try it out.

well they are branded their summit racing springs lol, besides the low price compared to eibachs is a plus for me.

OK, I have been looking around to see what others are saying about Voghtland and Hotchkis springs when I found this article

                http://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-sa...ls-inside.html

Looks like Sam Strano was/is using/recommending Voghtland springs...Anyone have experience with them? They are $70 less than Hotchkis and according to Sam, quite a bit lighter...Thoughts??

                Thanks!

strano's are the best. though the kyb's might not be able to handle the spring rate and pressure.

Re: Best lowering springs for a DD??

I believe Summit recommends KYB gas a just for their Eibach springs combo, I think they should be OK. My Bilstein HDs are not re valved so I wonder about those too. My shocks are part of the reason I don't want a big drop...

i'm running the hotchkis springs(1"/1.5" drop) with the bilstein shocks-just a bit hash if the road gets real rough & just be careful not to drag the lower lip feeding the rad-but handles great! ...& forgive me of my ignorance here, but what is the aforementioned "HeaterHose Mod?" -thanks
