  • Rotor fit on wheel studs

Hi. I'm new to this forum and have a question. We just bought a 95 Firebird V6 for my son's first car. While inspecting the brakes I noticed that there seems to be a lot of free play between the front rotors and the wheel studs. I know the fit should not be real tight but it just seems excessive. The brakes and rotors look pretty new. Is it normal on these cars for there to be a lot of bolt hole clearance between the rotor and the studs?

    Thanks for any input.

Yeah, bolt hole clearance is normal. So long as the actual rotor sits nicely on the hub, there shouldn't be any problem. with the wheels off, I can spin the hub maybe 1/4" total without moving the rotor any.

1/4" is about right. Seems like a lot of clearance compared to others I have worked on. Thanks for the confirmation.
