  • E brake not working

i usually always put my e brake up for extra security, but for some reason it does not work now, i took the calipers off to re paint them last weekend and since then it does not work, i cant think of what could be the problem because the brakes work fine

    any suggestions?

Check you e-brake cables for looseness. also check your adjustment at the drum on the backside of your rear discs.

            Re: E brake not working

There is a self adjuster in the brake that sets the shoes far enough apart to spread and press against the drum. Sometimes with rear drums you can self-adjust them by driving in reverse and hitting the brakes so weight transfers to the rear and forces the brakes to engage. This may work for an e-brake by driving in reverse and then pulling the e-brake handle, but I'm not sure

Just do not go in reverse at high speed and pull your e-brake, just fast enough to transfer some weight rearward

someone please correct me if I am wrong, I have never had to do this, just heard it from some old-timers

Also your e-brake shoes could be worn out and therefore not gripping the drum. Same goes for the drum possibly being worn out. Too many possibilities to diagnose without actually tearing it down and seeing whats going on.
