  • Shocks/Springs for 295/30/R19

I have a 2001 firebird and I upsized the wheels/tires to Z06 and 3/4" spacers on the rear. But I still have the OEM shocks and springs. Anyone have suggestions on how to stiffen the rear? I get some tire rub on the dips and potholes in the east. Do I want the adjustable or the non-adjustable, and what springs can I get without lowering the car? Or do I even need new springs with upgraded shocks?

    Thanks in advanced

I would suggest looking into some quality aftermarket shocks. Strano-spec Bilsteins or Konis will make for a nice upgrade o er the stock deCarbons. You can run stock springs with aftermarket shocks, no problem. Adjustability isn't necessary, but may be preferred depending on your use of the car. For adjustable shocks, look into KYB AGX or Koni SAs.

If you want stiff, go with 1LE springs which are progressive 130-170LBS, and go with QA-1 rear adj. or KYB ADJ. shocks you can make them stiff as you want and still sit as high. Also use new rubber spacers at the top checker/ autozone have thick universal ones I used to make it alittle higher. Sits about 28 to 28.5 " in the back from ground to fender. and I rasied the front to 27.5 to 28" in the front. Mainly for clearance for pipping up front. Just precaution.
