  • what problems does a lowered car with lca relocation brackets encounter?

i've lowered my car. 1.25" with tokico shocks, and vogtland springs, about a year or so ago. i was getting alot of wheel hop when shifting hard recently. changed out the transmission mount with a v8 polyurethane unit and replaced the torque arm bushing with polyurethane also. seemed to take care of everything, night and day difference. but now i get some vibrations coming from the rear more noticeable on the highway but i thin its always there... and i hear a thump. it really sounds like the driveshaft is just barely hitting the floorpan. however i was under the car and looked, there's no marks on the driveshaft floor pan. exhaust, torque arm anything. i am also getting more wheel hop kind of out of nowhere. i did just make some changes in my torque reduction through hp tuners, however im not sure that would make a big difference. i was wondering if it could have something to do with not have, lca brackets. my only other idea, is possibly u-joints. should there be any play at all in the u joint? anything else i can look at it? my exhaust is hitting my axle but i think its only when i go down my driveway, not for sure.

Wheel hop can show up once you put aftermarket shocks and springs on a car. A good way to address this is to get some Moog solid rubber rear lower control arm bushings to replace the stock gapped ones. You should also look into getting an adjustable panhard bar. Since your car is now sitting lower, you'll probably notice that the rear axle isn't centered properly under the car. An adjustable panhard can help to recenter the axle.

I have only seen a hard rubber bushing offered from Moog. Stock LCA bushings are a softer rubber and are star-shaped design, unlike the Moog ones which are a full round bushing.

ok i'm going to go ahead and order those..

today i went driving with some tuning in mind... i didn't get any wheel hop... but there is definately something hitting under my car... there was nothing visibly scarred up when i looked under it today... i don't have lca brackets and they are the original u joints. could these cause it? any other ideas?
i get it alot on bumpy roads.

When you did you poly trans. mount did you adjust for the height difference which is 1/2"'s . Most use a spacer's or a rubber endlink bushing works great too. If you didn't your driveshaft is at the wrong angle.

hmmmm well... that could be it... but i dunno... i used a nut as a spacer and it was about 1/2. there is a little vibration on the highway which wrong pinion angle would cause.
with a wrong pinion angle...what would be hitting? and will it being off, say a 1/4" cause a problem?

sorry to jack the thread, but I'm looking at getting springs/shocks. How do you like this combo? It seems like a really good price. My stock springs / shocks are killing me....

sounds to me like sum thing is loose i would just take a adjustable wrench onder the car one day and cheak everything with a quick turn. shocks have a tendency to come loose on my car and they nock also when i had my stock lca i had so much wheel hop it wasnt cool when i swapped out i also got poly buching and my problems dissapeared oh and oneeightseven, i was gunna buy real nice front struts and springs but then i realized i could buy qa1 coil-overs for like 50 bucks more and be happy for ever. this is prob the best handleing package available i have found for the price
