  • Quick K-member help!

Okay, quick question about switching over to the tubular k-member.

Where do I bolt down the brake lines?

On the stock k-member there's two holes, one on a horizontal tab for the bracket and another vertical hole to bolt down a small plastic piece further down the line.

On the tubular K (PA RACING K-Member), there's only one hole that is vertical which I guess is for the plastic piece, but I can't find anything to hold down the metal bracket. Do I just zip tie the bugger? Did they divide by zero?

    Obligatory pic of assembled k-member:

I went to the Home Depot and bought two L brackets like what you would use to support a small shelf, and bolted them to the inner fender well just above the old location of the stock tabs. Then used a bolt, washers and nuts to hang the brake lines from the protruding end of the L bracket. Just make sure you turn the wheels both ways to make sure you dont hang up on anything.

Thank you sir! Engine is already down on it now and mated to the trans.

I'll make a trip to HD/Lowes tomorrow morning and pick up the brackets, bolts and washers.

      Here's where I left off:

I'll install the radiator and other stuff tomorrow. Probably start bolting on a few other items that go on the engine tonight.

Nice valve covers. Where did those come from?

Psh, cheater. It's way more fun to install that tube K with the engine and everything else still in the body. Let me tell you....

Nice valve covers. Got a closer pic?

What all are you doing anyways?

Pacefabricating was selling some parts in the FS section and I bought them for $200.

              It's just a little old H/C/I setup.

              60*Inclusive ported heads and intake
              TCI 3800 stall

That'll work really well with my longtubes I had on the car before the rebuild.

I'll post up a build thread sometime tonight, I've got posts on FTV6, V6F-body, LS1tech, Ricekiller and a few local boards.
