Looks like I will be getting some Toyo Proxies TR1 285/45/17 tires for my car , found a great deal on them. They will change my diameter from 25.66 to 27.10 so about 1.5"s and make the wheel gap alot less. Also will have alot of tire protection, plus they look bad@***, they will go on my 17 X 9.5 ZR1's. My car has been raised up quite a bit. Will post pics when I get them on. Most likey before the turbo goes on.

I took a look at it but I was wanting more of a rear view shot and of the front showing how the tires stick out.

his GTO seat test fitting really interested me lol.

            Re: new tires

The GTO seats are cool but like he said if over 6'2" you'll be in trouble hitting your head on the headliner, I'm 6'4"' 270lbs and thats why I went with Speaco wide seats , probably as much as nice used GTO seats like that. 275's stick out alittle so I assume the 285's will do the same but not as much since their 45' aspect but the width goes from 10.8 from 275 /40/17's to 11.4 width with 285/45/17's. Also a 1"-1.5" raise in height.

Hmm yeah I'm only 5' 6" so I wasn't worried about the height lol.

I was thinking about 1 inch spacers for the rears. How's the price on 285's?

No need to go that big, 255 M.T drags would be more than enough for what power your making. I have a spare set of front Pro stars and 275 M.T. drag radials for the rear. For the track, which if I run 15 PSI should handle it well with being 2900lbs w/driver. But will dyno the car first to see how much it is making. 285/45's all around is for the street to help protect the rims and raise the car up alittle more.

                      Re: new tires

315's are HUGE...I got 11.5's and when I have em with 30psi in them at the track they measure 10" wide, and I think it is still too much. I get a solid launch, but my top end dies out drastically I feel...atleast compared to street tires....I trap soo low with these... infact I think that 235 mickeys are more than enough (not sure if they make that size though)

I know they make 245's , so yes 235's would be nice plus extra weight saving of a huge rim and unneeded wide tire.

I find its the friction once you get going that just kills you. The highest it says you can fill the tire is 35 psi...Highest I have gone is 32 psi ( I want to be safe, not sure how accurate my tire gauge is and what not...plus Ima little paranoid sometimes lol) and I ran the fastest like that...no hook up issues...I cut a 1.84...but I used to run High 96mph traps with street tires...I was trapping 93-94 with the slicks.

I actually think I am probably one of the slowest guys running 13's. I have a wider tire then what I want, but I got it at such a steal of a deal that I just couldn't pass it up...

Moral of the story...the least amount of tire you can get away with is your best friend....

                            Re: new tires

I here that, but I only had a spare set of 17X9 rims when I got my 275/40/17 MT drag radials, but they measure the same height as my front prostars so I think they will be good. Once the turbo kicks in 2nd gear I think I will need the 275's and for 3 rd gear if I'm hope to be at 400 wrhp or more for the track. I wanted the 285/45/17 for the street for rim protection, cars higher and makes my 3.73 gears like they were 3.55's since there 1"-1.5" taller so it will spool alittle longer. Hell might even try them at the track first.
