  • Adjustable panhard bar.

I've been searching around the forums for a bit. I recently dropped my car by 1" via some hotchkis springs. I noticed today that it seems like the rear axle shifted towards the drivers side a bit. So i need a new panhard bar. What is a good place to get one for a reasonable price. I saw Strano has one for like $99 which is not a whole lot of money. Also what is the best method to adjust it so it's just right?

believe i got mine from lmperformance.com by j&m. pretty cheap, free shipping at the time, and excellent quality. mine just requires a few turns of the wrench to adjust the bar shorter or longer, which will move the rear how you need.

I got my BMR chromoly PHB about 10 years ago , still holding up great and their def. worth it, so whoever has the best price then go for it. I thought UMI was having a sale so you might check them out. If you need to center the wheel inside the wheel well them I would look into some adj. LCAs also, just letting you know since you'll be doing work back there anyways.

I think the easiest way to center your rear is to take a piece of string and hang it from the quarter pannel on each side. Measure from the string to your wheel. Then just go by that....thats how I planned on doing it.

I got adj. lca right now, I think theyre over kill. I also got rod ends, so its a little harsh on my DD, I plan on going back to stock LCA with moog bushings, and keeping my LCA relocation brackets, the relocation brackets are what matters.

Hey guys I was just reading this thread and it got me wondering.....just did the heater hose mod last summer, does that little of a drop require an adjustable panhard or not? I was just never really sure if it would matter for that 1/2-3/4"...

            No, you'll be fine.

              Re: Adjustable panhard bar.

I've found that the best way to center the rear is to use a large level and a tape measure. Touch the level to the fender and let it hang down. Make sure the level is, well, level, and measure from the wheel to the edge of the level on each side. Adjust until you have an equal measurement. Using a piece of string and a plumb bob can work and well, but I've found it easier to measure off of the level.

Of course, make sure that the car is sitting on a level surface and the suspension is loaded when taking measurements.

                Re: Adjustable panhard bar.

Thanks for all the advice guys! Going to be ordering a UMI adjustable panhard since thats the best price I can find and UMI seems to be used by a lot of people here. BMR has some good deals too but its a bit more pricey.

I was not sure what the best way to center was. I did consider using the car body work to measure it but was not sure if that was the totally correct way to center the rear axle. The plumb bob idea sounds like the easiest to do, thanks

My axle looks to be about 2" off. The driver's side rear wheel is closer to the lip of the fender than the passenger side.

What is the difference between single and double adjustable? Besides the obvious double adjustableness of it.

double adjustable should allow you to make changes while the part is bolted up to the car. i can adjust my lca's without having to unbolt one end like my single adjustable panhard.

Ended up ordering the UMI double adjustable panhard bar for now. Figured the price difference is reasonable so it's worth it .

Well I got my panhard bar in the mail yesterday. Took a little while to get it, but I think Sam was busy getting ready for SCCA Nationals which is understandable. I'm very happy with the product. I'm really glad I got the double adjustable. Adjusting off car would have been a nightmare. It was hard enough to get it perfect with the car on jack stands under axle with loaded suspension.

Yea whitedog54's way is the way I did it. It's probably easiest. Helps if you have a second person to measure things up while ur making the adjustment.
