okay my factory sway bars ran 30/15 so i bumped up to a 32mm hollow on the front and it really stopped the body roll.. but i can not keep the *** end straight it seems like anytime i give it more than 25% throttle in a corner it kicks out like a *****! I have to honestly say this is the most horrible thing i have ever done to the car and i think it will come off real soon unless i can figure out why its doing this.

Re: 32mm swaybar = worst mod ever!
You need a bigger rear sway since you went with a 32mm front, at least a 19mm rear. This is what happens when wrong size sway bars are used, can be dangerous. I run a 32mm 1LE front and a 21mm 1LE rear and it handles great.Last edited by ssms5411; 03-04-2010, 11:20 PM.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: 32mm swaybar = worst mod ever!
Your 2001 came with 28mm front bar, not a 30mm. As for the rear end kicking out under throttle... sounds like you've got some bad oversteer. Typically, a larger bar in the front will cause a little understeer on an otherwise neutral setup, rather than oversteer. Have you done any other suspension modifications to the car? Maybe check the rear bar to see if it's still holding up or if the endlinks are still good.
I swapped out my stock 28mm front bar for a hollow 32mm last year and have noticed only a tad bit of understeer when really pushing the car around the corners. Otherwise, it's been just fine with my stock 15mm rear bar. As for upgrading the rear bar, I would hold off unless you have some aftermarket springs.'99 Camaro

Re: 32mm swaybar = worst mod ever!
i'm about to pick up a 32mm front off of ebay, but i also found a 24mm rear for a great price...would that cause some issues? i've got a good bit of suspension upgrades so i'm wondering if my rear would give me trouble with a 24mm matched to the 32 front.pacesetters|full 3" borla exhaust|3" stainless e-cutout|slp cai & ram intake|c/f whisper lid|tbs|eibach|kyb|stb|sfc's|adj.lca's & phb|slp fan|b&m t5|180*|z06 17x9.5|8000k hids|hptuners|d/s rotors

Re: 32mm swaybar = worst mod ever!
I run a 32 up front and the factory 19mm in the back...Handles like a beauty, I dont have your issue at all...unless I am in the rain at a stop and giver 30-35%ish throttle...but I know not to do that unless I wanna have fun...
as stated I would check your rear sway bar to make sure you dont have a broken endlink...did you install everything correctly? torqued it all down to spec? what other suspension mods do you have? did you use both the same end links/bushings?

I'd buy it to turn around and sell for profit if it's such a good deal. Otherwise, stick with a smaller sized rear bar to keep the oversteer at bay. 19mm would be best with some aftermarket springs, and stock will be best with stock springs.'99 Camaro

These problems are even worse if you're using such a large bar with stock spring rates.

Re: 32mm swaybar = worst mod ever!
thanks guys i appreciate it. i just bought the 32mm 1LE with brand new energy suspension end links and bushings, so i'll probly run that with my stock rear bar until i find exactly what i like.
and vr4 --- sounds like you need to upgrade that rear as well. let me know if you come across any good finds.pacesetters|full 3" borla exhaust|3" stainless e-cutout|slp cai & ram intake|c/f whisper lid|tbs|eibach|kyb|stb|sfc's|adj.lca's & phb|slp fan|b&m t5|180*|z06 17x9.5|8000k hids|hptuners|d/s rotors

Re: 32mm swaybar = worst mod ever!
I ran 32/19 autocrossing and road racing a while (until I did some major upgrades) and loved the balance - the car was easy to drive.
What are your tire pressures and alignment? I ran 38 front/30 back pretty much all the time. Also an autocross alignment (max caster, min camber, and zero toe) also helped out, without undue tire wear on the street.Drivetrain Moderator - "There are no stupid questions, only stupid people!"
