    Does anyone know how much weight the Pa racing tub k member frees up as opposed to stock?

    its around 40 lbs...its noticiably lighter, I'll tell ya that much..

        I would say about 50LBS with the TUB. K and lower A arms, thats what the mecahnics estimates were when they walked by when we were installing it in. The best part no more lost bolts or anything since it drops straight though and , to remove the oil pan don't need to move anything all bolts are easy to get to. I would say it depends on how rusted the stock bolts are, mine had no rust and came out quick, but some who live in snow had some to alot of problems with bolts snapping or not coming out. Plus the level of experience of working on cars and if you can get another person to help when installing it will make it eaiser.

          You need all new bolts ahead of time, all the bolts are too long as your original K is much thicker at the mounting points. Please get 10.9 grade bolts and not the 8.8 crap they give you...there is a reason you had 10.9 there before.

          The only bolts you might be able to resuse are the rear most bolts on the K frame...I can't comment on this though because I snapped both of these and spent about 16 hours, tons of metal burns, tons of metal slivers, and a runaway drill to the face drilling both out ...

          if you do A arms the shock bolts will also be smaller, and I think you need longer A arms bolts as well...can't 100% remember...

            WOW dude that sucks. Thanks for the imput though. Im probably going to keep the stock a arms. And gvperformance says the pa drops like 75lbs or something. Im asuming thats chromoly

              Mine is the chromoly version, and with the lower/upper A arms and with the QA-1's its suppose to be about 75LBS or so.

                thats alot of weight. I will more than likely keep the stock a arms. I just dont want any clearance issues for the under k pipes.

                  naw, makes for a good story when you talk about all the stupid sh*t that has happened to you when modding the car...sucks in the moment, makes for a good laugh later...

                  Chromoly is only like a 10lb difference...I would not get chromoly for a street setup...from what I understand the chromoly versions break easier on the street (even though chromoly is stronger)...I think this is due to the metal not being normalized after being welded...welding heats up the metal to a certain degree while the rest of the K frame doesnt reach that temperature...as a result the welds are weaker...

                    well maybe i wount need it for the under k. I should probably do it just to do the job right, but thats alot of money and work for me at the moment.

                      take it a step at a time...it opens up soooo much room down there...You have access to EVERYTHING...hell, you can see everything lol...

                      I would say the hardest part was getting the damn motor all hooked up...I used an engine lift, but since I don't have much experience working on cars (only the mods that Ive done to the car either myself or with friends, so I am still learning) so it took me awhile to hook the engine up so that I felt safe enough to get under there and unbolt the K...last thing you want is 420lbs lieing on your chest...the old K fame coming down on my wrist hurt enough as it was...watch out when that falls...I stuck my hand out to cushion the fall, I cushined it alright...

                      I did the swap myself, my dad watched, cussed, told me the car wasn't going to run ever again, and handed me tools lol...true father son engine building team lol....its not that bad if you take your time. Like I said, Im a guy whose learning as I go along, I dont have a mechanical background, and Im not going to school for this kinda thing...I've relied strictly on the internet, haines manual, forums, and buddies for help when I need it...
