Do you have the parts already? I'm selling my 98+ F-body calipers.

I'm curious why you used F-body rotors with the C5 calipers. Will front C5 calipers and rotors bolt right onto F-bodies without modification or an adapter kit? I only ask because I've got drilled and slotted rotors and calipers from a C5 laying around and figured I'd install them sometime soon.

Because they slide right onto the F-body caliper bracket in place of the F-body caliper, and uses F-body pads. To use C5 rotors you have to buy a bracket kit to install the C5 caliper bracket and pads. I don't need to go though all that for a minor increase in pad area.

Good call , aslong as there is enough area for the pad , no need to waste money , I think for me just doing the 98+ brakes will be fine for me. I think it brakes well know becuase of the G-Force tires and weight in the back for DD. I had to brake hard once on the freeway about 55 MPH , my fault not paying attention. I hit the brakes and they gripped outstanding the tires just slid about 5-10 feet I think giving me about 10 feet from the vehicle in front of me at a dead stop. This was on dry hot road so I think they worked well, can't wait to get the 98 bigger brakes on the front. I was also lowered at the time about 1.5"s.

I'd agree the 98+ front swap made a large difference. I'd be hesitant to upgrade the front even more without a proportioning valve because the bias right now seems to be heavily front. But as you said, Robert, with the larger rear bias it might be a good upgrade. Still, I think I might start with the proportioning valve.

So do you have to have the 98 and up caliper brackets for this mod to work?

Not sure what your asking but -

To install 98+ calipers on a pre-98 you will need the 98+ spindles, caliper brackets, calipers, and all 98+ fasteners and hardware. Then, 98+ rotors and pads.

You can swap the F-body caliper and use the C5.

Re: Finally - C5 Calipers Installed

I understand that part, but can I just buy the calipers and put them on my 97 camaro or do I have to do the 98 and up conversion first?

If you mean buy a C5 caliper - NO! This is a upgrade for a 98+ front.
