Pretty easy just need a jack under the tranny to hold it in place, I would go with a poly mount, it will last forever. Theres a writeup on doing it. If you go that route.

Well, I replaced the transmission mount in mine and it was definitely torn. Now I have to fabricate some kind of spacer tho because Energy Suspensions generic GM rwd tranny mount makes the trans sit too low and makes it hard to put it in 2nd gear. The shifter now hits the back of the opening in the center console and pops out of 2nd or just grinds 2nd almost every time.

:-O I just did mine yesterday. I used poly swaybar bushings. How much did you need to cut the crossmember?

I had to cut the hole atleast a good inch straight forward, maybe even a little more. I even had to cut the larger bottom hole 1/4 of an inch or so just so could get a socket on the bolt. I have about 3/4 of an inch worth of washers on it right now and like I said, the tranny sits too low for the stock manual shifter position. I'd like to try and raise it maybe another half inch.

I just want to update this and say that the combination of new tires and replacing the trans mount has eliminated both that "thumping" from under the center console and wheel hop under hard acceleration. I also added a washer or two to the trans mount to raise it up a little more and my manual trans now stays in 2nd and doesn't pop out or grind as I stated in one of my previous posts due to the trans position. I sure wish the trans mount was a direct bolt-on replacement, but atleast it's "easy" custom fab work.

That's good. No one makes anything for our cars...always gotta fab it ourselves.
