my power steering pump went out and me and a friend pulled it and replaced it. my friend some how managed to warp the pulley, so i picked a new one up from ebay. i replaced the pulley and noticed a slight ticking while the motor was running. i had a service tech check this out. he informed me that the replacement pulley (made in china, cheap) had a slight warp to it, once he pointed it out to me i could see it. so i went to a local salvage yard, and pulled one from a 96 that had no damage to the front of the car. the damn ticking is still there. there is no noticeable warping to this pulley, and it appears to be lined up nicely. the ticking is much more noticeable when the car is cold, once it warms up it gets less noticeable but is still there. any ideas? bad pump from the parts store?

From my experience. If you bought anything from a Autozone(duralast or valuecraft) you get junk. I will not buy stuff like this from auto parts stores other than a NAPA or GM.

Are you sure it's the pulley and not the pump? Especially now that you had two pulleys on it, assuming the junkyard one is good.

I'm with Choppers, I gave up getting parts from stores unless it's NAPA or the dealership. They never last as long. And as the car gets older and accumulates more of these parts, you end up spending more and more time fixing it because these replacement parts keep breaking.

Anyone remember Trak Auto? OMG I went through so many hoses, alternators and radiators from them.

I would probably rather run a junk yard part than a remanufactured part from Autozone or any other auto parts store other than NAPA.
