Good info , but need 97 rear brakes since they switched from drums to discs or is that for front and rear?

I believe its front and rear. The book I am getting this from does not specify any difference, which is weird because there are very different.

I'll take some measurements later but to me this seems like front brake rotors.

I the haynes manual I can look it up, I did the rear drums to disc on my 96' and will be doing the 98+ front upgrade pretty soon I got all the parts for the swap.

SSMS, did you swap in a completely different rearend, or just the brakes? I'm doing the front 98+ Conversion while I have the K out from pulling the engine, and soon after hope to get rid of the ugly drums also...

You don't have to swap rear ends, but its something to look into if your really wanting to do this. Part because you can get a new rear end with disk brakes already, and partly the number of parts taken off and replaced, makes it a good time to swap to a gearing and traction style more fitting to what your looking for.

Yea, I have a complete rear from a 99, but I believe it has the same gears as mine, and I'm not too sure of the condition of the rear, whereas the one in my car now, has a few fairly new parts... plus, I think the 99 is a 4-channel and mine is a 3-channel, but I'm not positive about that one...

It'll probably depend on what I feel like doing when the time comes since I have quite a few projects to finish ahead of this one...

I just did the rear brakes, pretty easy. I followed the write up in the how to's, I would def get the shims and install them I had to go back and put them in becuase mine would squeak around corners, so I would suggest installing them, I even measured and it said it was fine on clearance and installing them won't hurt anything except fixed the gap if you needed it. Better just to do it once than twice. My 98+ brakes I'm using Earls stainless steel brake lines alll around. I already painted the calipers, and got ceramic brake pads, and slotted rotors for the front. I'm think I'm going to wait about a years or 2 before I install them since I just did new front brakes and Power slot rotors. But I got a Jegs proportioning valve for the rear brakes i can install and a SLP line lock to install for the front. So there is still more projects to do.

A NAPA brake spec guide for a shop. Carries ALOT of vehicles, so its a little weak on whats what on what vehicle.

I wouldn't give bad info, I'm trying to contribute :)
