Is there a consensus on the brand of rotors? I have some recently installed Rayestos Service Grade rotors, thats now warping something fierce. I'd like to swap them out for the non-warp variety to go with my ceramic pads.
R1 concepts , Powerslot are some good ones. My last R1 concepts lasted 5-6 years front and rear I can't complain.

i guess it depends on where you live, my aunt who lives in california can go 100,000 miles before changing her brakes.. we are lucky if they last 25,000 miles here in pa
I, along with a good amount of guys over on ls1tech, use the autozone rotors with their ceremic pads. No warping yet. Some of them even autocross with them. Lifetime warranty on the pads, 3 year warranty on the rotor.

And my grandma finally put brakes on her van after 15 years. It has more to do with driving style than anything. One hard stop wears more than 100 slow, steady stops due to heat and thermal shock.
Having taken a NAPA brake class recently, this stuff is pretty fresh still.
Basically, NAPA took OEM rotors, and aftermarket rotors, and cut them in every angle possible to see why aftermarket rotors were warping and failing left and right. The difference NAPA found was that aftermarket rotors have a much bigger gap between the two friction plates, and thus making the friction plates very thin. The problem is that, contrary to advertisements, the air gap is very inefficiant to cooling when faced with the amount of heat the friction plates built up. The fact that the plates are rediculously thin doesnt help either.
Same story with any rotors that are lightweight. Less weight means less metal, less metal, means less ability to absorb heat, less ability to absorb heat causes hot spots, and hot spots cause warping.
NAPA rotors have very thick friction plates, which is why they last so long.
Now for you autocross guys, I havent begun into that field yet, so for daily drivers, NAPA, AC DELCO, or OEM is what you really want.
For brake pads, NAPA has pads called Adaptive One, where inboard pad is a different material than the outboard pad. From experience, these pads are very good.
*Not a NAPA salesman, just someone who installed their parts day in and out, so thats almost all I see. :P

in most cases. however, legit lightweight are made of different materials. silicon carbide i think.
I really don't think your going to find silicon rotors within a street car's price range though. But you are right, your true racing rotors are not made of normal, mass production materials.
Bandit127 did they happened to cut up some performance aftermarket rotors like powerslots, EBC, or Baer eradispeeds or just the cheapo parts store rotors which I'll never buy again? Just curious. I have Baer brake on my 69 camaro and powerslots on my 96 and they are great rotors and I have no warping at all.
I have to do the brakes on my wife's envoy and I'm just exploring my options. I leaning between the EBC rotors and pads or the Napa coated rotors with cermanic pads.
Wow, I'm floored that stock is better than the aftermarket, in this case.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I'll look towards Napa/AC Delco.
That's because you believe the aftermarket marketing BS.
I've said this for years - but then I was in Quality management at automotive parts manufacturers and know what we needed to do to get an OEM contract, and keep it.
Selling to the public, aftermarket companies don't have to worry about the true quality of their product.
i've heard good things about the R1 concepts rotors, brembo blanks are amazing, and you can get some ridiculous baer "big brake" packages for top dollar.
i put on some BrakeMotive d/s rotors and ceramic pads about 6 weeks ago and they're fantastic. my stock blanks were warped like crazy with 80k on them.
you guys are going to laugh at me but the best rotors ive found for our cars are ebay rotors... they are oem rotors with slots in them. i love them no warping at all and i do alot of high speed breacking becuase im on the highway alot. i had the ebcs on and didnt like them(junk) like the red stuff pads tho now running hawks and good so far

I've ran R1's for the past 7 years and switched it up with Power Slot on the front this time with just them slotted, and of course zinc coated and I think i will go with the blanks all around this next time and I always get some type of ceramic pad, either satisfied or checker Nascar brand they had. But i will go with Hawks this next time. Also I'll have my 98+ brakes on and my proportioning valve to adjust the rear so I should have some good braking. Plus 400-500 LB weight reduction.

Is this a good upgrade for the brakes? Mine are grinding excessively now and would like a complete kit. 370 for rotors and pads seems like an excellent deal.
