I am in need of new tires for my Firebird. I have already searched and read a bunch on here. I have decided to go with 245/50-16. Is there anything that I need to watch out for with the slightly wider tire? I don't think there is but I just wanted to double check.
Wider tires suck a little more in snow. Not that an F-body doesn't suck in the snow anyways. Probably not something you'll have to worry about. Why don't you up your wheels to 17"? There's a larger selection of tires for 17" for some reason. At least from what I remember.

:slap: 15" inch rims are better...lighter weight so you go faster..... some nice weld racing wheel replicas (like the summit stars) are to :drool: over
no issues with going to a 245/50/R16 tire though. I liked my hankook Ventus HRII tires...stood up to quite a bit of abuse, and were quite grippy until I started making the power I am now...
245's came as an option on some cars, I think... but yea, I switched to the 245's the first time I bought new tires... I got the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX's and have been completely satisfied

What a difference. There was a change of plans on the tires. I had narrowed it down to 2 choices, and when I went today, they were out of stock on the Kuhmos. I decided to go with Falken ZIEX ZE 502 tires, size 245/50-16. In addition, the rear sway bar end links were both broken so I had new Moog ones installed as well as an alignment.
The car drives like new. Very happy right now... :cool:

wow, how did you even drive that car?? must have been scary as hell, when my one endlink broke it felt like i was driving on ice and had major body roll
I didn't even notice my rear sway bar endlinks were busted. Sway bar was just hanging there, scrapin gravel and who know what else!
Going to order new endlinks this weekend, but it handles good still. When I lost the front endlink it was like that, but losing rear sway bar only seems to make it understeer a bit more. (Which I like anyways.)
