  • Contemplating New Shocks

I am thinking about getting new shocks. I got the car with 94,000 miles on it 2 years ago, and it has about 116,000 miles now. I'm not sure if they have been replaced or not. (they are orange, not sure what the stock ones look like) But I was wondering what the best CHEAP shock is. I'm talking under $50 per shock preferably. I don't do autocross or anything, just occasional trips to the track and daily-ish driving.

    Thanks for the help!

For the rear you can get competition engineering adj drag shocks for under $50 from jegs. Not sure about cheap fronts though.

you cant get cheap front shocks unless you buy used ones.

i know you arent going to like this answer, but dont do shocks now, wait a bit and save up money for good ones. cheap shocks are junk, and will go bad in ~20,000 miles... ask me how i know.

yeah, i was in the same position as you, and i got some KYB gas adjust shocks for really cheap (i got the fronts in used, but never installed condition, the the rears new) and they just arent that good.

i put them on about a year ago, and they made a huge difference compared to the stock ones that were shot, but i think they could be a lot better

Cheapest shocks I would go would be KYB ADJ.'s or Blisteins. Or look into the KYB gas adjust shocks.

I would save up some money and get something like what I use. You will be REALLY happy:

              1. Bilstein SLP shocks from Strano Performance Parts.
              2. Hotchkis 1″ lowering springs, progressive rate, front 285-525 lb/in, rear 100-140 lb/in, from Strano Performance Parts.
              3. UMI panhard bar, double adjustable, from Strano Performance Parts.

how much does lowering help handling? I'm scared to do it on mine because of clearance issues. I hit my front nose enough in my town now let alone down another inch. You should see the roads.

Would KYB Gr-2's be enough shock on an inch drop? Are Eibach Prokits nice?

I have Koni 4/4's and love them. Pricey but worth every penny. I get into other vehicles and feel like I am floating.

im gonna say no, the only kyb shocks thar are decent are the adjustable ones.. the GR2 and gas adjust ones arent very good.

                        These are basically stock replacements.

I went with the AGX series for mine. It's a good set, but that's with a sample size of one.

What^^^^. If I was going to go with AGX's I would go with hotchkis " drop.

I had the kyb agx's and a prokit for about 4000 miles before I wrecked, I thought it was a really nice setup and it wasnt too too expensive either. that stuff is for sale right now too... just saying.

how much are you asking for just the shocks? I don't want to lower my car any.
