  • 2000 Firebird/18" ZR1 Rims Question

My son wants to buy some 18 x 9.5" ZR1 Rims with 255/45/18 rubber. Will these be a seamless fit? If not what do any vette rims work with a 2000 firebird that are 18"?

Thanks in advance for your time in reply.

Shouldn't be a problem I have C6 17x9.5's with 275/40/17's and they clear the front shock.

He can fit a wider tire on that 18" rim 255 is pretty thin , I would go with a 275 at least so it protects the side of the rim more. I run 275 front and 315 in the rear on 17 X 9.5 and 17 X 11's.

          Re: 2000 Firebird/18" ZR1 Rims Question

I guess my real question is, the word "OFFSET" has occured in several things that I have read about corvette wheels. Do the ZR1's have offset and would this affect mounting them "as is" on the firebird.

I really appreciate your help on this, as I am clueless (as one can tell) but do not want my boy to purchase something that will not work with his car.

          Thanks again,
          jay

All wheels "have offset" it's just a matter of how much. Offset is the distance from the center line of the wheel to the mounting surface (lugs). So you'll want to check what the offset is on the wheels you are looking at specifically. +38mm to +56mm is an acceptable range for 9.5" wheels that should allow proper mounting to the firebird. An offset outside of that range may present rubbing issues, namely when turning sharply on splash shields or fender rubbing.
