  • brakes not releasing?

I jacked my car up and when to spin a tire and it barely moved. I can turn it but it turns pretty hard, so i went to the other side and tried it and it was the same way. The back wheels are not as hard to turn as the front, but i would think they should spin easily. Shouldn't the wheels spin freely? What could be wrong? the pads and rotors are not very old and are in good shape.

    Re: brakes not releasing?

i had the same problem when i changed my pads and rotors.... your caliper pins are probably rusted on and aren't moving freely. I had to heat mine up and hammer them off. Just grease them up (with caliper grease) and put them back in and your brakes should release

X2 on the caliper pins needing greased also might need to grind the mounting points down where the pads meet the calipiers. Also once done go out and break them in like howit says on the box, do 60-0 stops down to 30-0 stops. It will heat them up and brake them in to the rotors. Make sure they are bleed correctly, have someone pump the brakes while the other loosens the bleeder, quickest way to do it and you know it right and you will know how much pressure is coming out from that spot. Good luck. Also remember some after market rotors are thicker and may drag alittle so the break in procedure should help them from draging. Good luck.
