So driving home tonight in the rain, not pushing the car hard at all, I started hearing a strange clunk from my rear when braking at speeds over about 30... it would only 'clunk' once, then when I came to a full stop, it would sound like whatever it was would snap back into place, and you could feel the car shutter a bit. This got progressively worse as the 45 minute drive went on... then when i got to my campus parking lot, i went to reverse into my space, the sound was very noticeable anytime i throttled the gas while in reverse.... it sounded like a loud clunk again, but somewhat more metallic while in reverse. Does anyone know what this could be? and is it safe to drive home on the highway (about 50 minutes from my campus)? maby a suspension arm?
On a side note, I believe this may be related to another sound i have been hearing for the past week or so... every time I would get into the car, I could hear a very quiet metallic clunk coming from the same general area of the rear of the car.
