I would think that if you go through all that trouble, you'd probably wanna change your ring and pinion at the same time to improve your gear ratio.
The best thing for you might be to just make a trip down to your local salvage yard and buy a complete Z28 rear end. This would get you the LSD, better gears, and rear disk brakes in one shot. It'll cost a little more than $95, but it would be a significant step forward.
My Y87 came with the "Z28 rear end" and it was well worth it. I think the improved snow and wet weather handling alone would be worth the investment. No offense to the open-rear-end folks, but I spend so much time lighting up the rear tires in low traction situations with my near-stock engine that I can't imagine how you safely street your cars on slick roads. Especially you guys with the serious power adders.
BTW, I like the black rims. I was thinking about doing that om my car but wasn't sure of how it'll look.1997 Camaro, Y87 Perf. You can't get anymore "take-off" units for under $100 because there just aren't any left, so you're stuck buying used or spending 300 new.

your best bet is going to be ebay i would think. i got my zexel and ring and pinion off a ws6 from a guy on ebay and i only ended up paying about 150 and that was after shipping. just keep your eyes open.
